The Château du Clos de Vougeot

An immersion in the heart of Burgundy’s vineyards

Just a few minutes from Les Sources de Vougeot, the Château du Clos de Vougeot stands as one of the most emblematic symbols of Burgundy’s winegrowing heritage. Built in the 12th century by the monks of Cîteaux, it was the birthplace of the vineyards and the expertise that shaped the reputation of the region’s great crus.

Surrounded by its famous stone walls, the château still houses the original Cistercian wine presses and an atmosphere steeped in history. Today, it is home to the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin, an esteemed brotherhood dedicated to promoting Burgundy wines and preserving its traditions.

Open to visitors, the Château du Clos de Vougeot offers a true immersion into the history, culture, and art of living of Burgundy.

The Route des Grands Crus

An immersion into the heart of Burgundy’s Climats

Created in 1937, the Route des Grands Crus de Bourgogne is often called the “Champs-Élysées of Burgundy.” Recognized as France’s very first wine route, it stretches for about 60 kilometers from Dijon to Santenay, crossing 37 winegrowing villages and encompassing 32 of the 33 Grand Crus of the Côte-d’Or.

Part of the Climats of Burgundy, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2015, this route is much more than a scenic drive. It is a sensory journey through the region’s most emblematic terroirs.

The route is best discovered by bike or on foot, winding through the vineyards, visiting cellars along the way, and soaking in the winemaking spirit that defines the richness of the Côte-d’Or.

Cycling routes available between villages (bike rental recommended)
